Sunday Service

What usually happens in church on Sunday?

Before it starts
Everyone receives a personal welcome as they come into the building. We are friendly and relaxed and if you arrive early there's usually time to meet people around you and read the welcome sheet that was handed to you as you came in, most likely someone will come and say hello to you. You will notice people from many backgrounds, nationalities and age groups. We do not have any kind of dress code and you will see everything from national costume to jeans and t-shirts.
We aim to begin at 11am, and usually end around 1pm. This page takes you through a typical Sunday gathering at Elim Family Church covering our worship, the talk, a bit about prayer, what we do for kids, and what happens at the end of the service.

Worship
We start most gatherings by singing modern songs thanking God for what He has done and for who He is. We don’t sing from a book, the words will appear on a screen at the front of the church. We encourage people to express their worship openly, you may see people raise their hands, clap, dance, just sit quietly or kneel. Our primary objective is that our thanks to God is genuine and personal.

Announcements
As we are a busy church we like to make sure people know what is going on. We take a few minutes each week to bring notices to everyone’s attention.

Offering
During our gathering there will be a time when baskets are circulated for people to bring their offering. God loves a cheerful giver but do not feel obliged to give.

Talk
At each gathering, a speaker will talk about an aspect of God or Christian living based on the Bible. These talks are informative and often thought-provoking!

Prayer
There are often times on Sundays to receive prayer. People will usually be invited to the front of the church to be prayed for. It is our experience that God touches and helps those being prayed for.

Children
While the talk is going on, KIDZONE – church for kids – takes place for children aged 3 years upwards. For younger children (under 3) and infants a Creche facility is available. This is open from the beginning of the service.

The End
We serve tea and coffee and biscuits at the back of the hall. This is a good time to mingle and talk to other people and make new friends.
